I have just added a poll to my frontpage to see what most people who visit my site think about following people back on twitter. In my opinion, there are three kinds of people on twitter:
1. Celebrity - These are the ones who don't follow anyone back and just want people to follow them. Well, they follow some people - but don't even care who is reading their tweets. EX:

This is an appropriate question to ask right now. On the eve of the Presidential inauguration we should wonder what the future holds. What new laws will be enacted? Where will the new president focus his attention?
I'm asking myself that question right now with regard to identity theft. Laws are being enacted on a regular basis both by state and federal government. Somewhere around 44 states now have some type of laws on the books addressing either identity theft or information security. Some of these laws speak of redress for victims, others speak to responsibility or liability for for protecting consumer information. Either way laws are being enacted that effect you.
Funny thing about laws being enacted though. Unless we are lawyers, politicians or have a specific reason to spend a lot of time keeping up with new laws, we rarely know about them. Normally a new or pending law only becomes public when someone it will affect makes a big stink about it. Other wise they simply get enacted without any fanfare.

Controlling StressPosted by Karen Shackles in Untagged |
|
Fearful, negative news - it's everywhere these days: "FINANCIAL CRISIS, JOB LAYOFFS, CONTINUED ECONOMIC DOWNTURN, TIGHTEN YOUR BELTS, IT'S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE . . ." It used to be that managing a healthy weight was the number one wellness concern of the people I talked to. Today, it's practically unanimous, how to cope with STRESS is at the top of the list. So I'm going to talk to you about exactly what stress is, and give you some powerful pointers that will help you regain your sense of balance and control.
WHAT IS STRESS?
Stress, in its most basic definition, is how a person responds to change. Stress, of itself, is not tension or anxiety. Emotions come from how a person perceives the change, as either good or bad.
Here is the next Twitter App Blog!!! This is a very fun process. I am trying so many apps now that I am having a hard time remembering all the different names and deciphering my notes!!! The fun part is that there are new apps everday, so there is always something new to try. Have fun with these, I sure did!!!
10. My-First-Follow
This app just shows you the first person that followed you on twitter. This might be fun for someone who just stumbled upon twitter all by themselves and didn't have someone they knew follow them right away!!! This is just something different.

9. Monitter
I am adding this one because it is very popular recently, although I am having a hard time telling the difference between this and Tweetgrid - other than the look of it. Monitter lets you monitor twitter for 3 or more keywords and watch the tweets as they come through.

Letting you know who I amPosted by Cheryl Baumgartner in Untagged |
|
I have always thought it is important to know a bit about the people around us, so I like to make it a point to introduce myself to others. So my first blog post is to let you know who I am and what I do.
Of course my name is Cheryl and I'm an Independent Associate with PrePaid Legal Services and a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist. My focus however is on identity theft.
I'm Certified through the Institutue of Fraud Risk Management. These are the same people who certify CPA's. What this means is that I have studied identity theft, I'm Familiar with the laws that address identity theft and also with the different products out there to protect against identity theft. No I'm not a an attorney and if I mention a law it is only to let you know it exists, you should talk to your attorney to find out how that law can affect you.
Here are the next 10 Twitter Apps that are worth trying and a description to go along with each one. Thank you for all the hits on the last list and because it was so popular, of course I will keep writing them and taking your recommendations along the way. They will be given 10 at a time still, but this time numbered from 10 to 1, just like a top ten. The order will of course mean that number 1 is better in some way. For the purposes of this blog it means that I personally enjoyed the application for my uses, but it doesn't mean that it would necessarily be a better app for you.
Have fun with the apps and let them help you with your twitter addiction as they have for me!!!
10. TWEETSCAN
I am declaring that I officially love twitter. Because of my newly developed passion for this social networking site, I have been playing around with different twitter apps. I am playing with so many lately, that I have to put my notes somewhere just to remember them. There are so many that I am going to take them 10 at a time and separate my blogs that way. They are just going to be in order of how I notated them, not in order of how I like them or how they come up in searches.
I may write some blogs for newcomers to twitter in the future, so do not take this list as a good reference if you are just getting started on twitter. Instead, get your twitter account going and once you are familiar, come back here and try new things. Everyone is different, so one thing may work for someone really well, while another app may just be a waist of time. Play around like I have and enjoy!!!
1. The first app to try with twitter is, TweetDeck.

How can you get the most from a group experience when using social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Youtube, etc.? The norms of social networking sites are somewhat different from the norms of different social situations.
1. Become an active group member. In order to fully appreciate any social networking site, you have to join. You can't contribute anything without first joining and you wont be able to learn about what each site has to offer without trying it for yourself. Your experience with one group (or site) will help you when trying out another one. In these groups, your willingness to seek input from others and to give feedback to others can start a pattern that will allow you to give quality and value to the groups that you are in. If you start this process with reluctance, then the connections that you make may sense your insecurity and have trouble connecting to you.
